I do a lot of robot lawn mower reviews and I get questions all the time asking for comparisons, so I figured now would be a great time to compare some of the top models – the MOVA LiDAX Ultra 3000 AWD, Worx Landroid Vision Cloud 4WD, and Ecovacs GOAT A3000 LiDAR Pro.
Overall, they are all pretty good. Below are some highlights:
Cut: All of them cut decently well and even, don’t miss grass, etc. That said, I do like that the MOVA unit allows you to disable obstacle avoidance. Sometimes grass gets a little too tall and the other mowers will avoid it like it’s an obstacle. But if you have the mower cut regularly that shouldn’t really matter. Obstacle avoidance for all of them is solid.
Trimming: All of them have trimming functionality. The MOVA cutting disc moves to the side to cut edges. The Worx has a specific disc for edge mowing and you can set the height separately from the other cutting disc. And the Ecovacs has a built-in trimmer with trimmer line. All work pretty well actually. The Ecovacs is pretty cool, though I don’t personally like having to replace line every now and then. But it shouldn’t need to be replaced too often.
Traction: The MOVA and Worx have a definite advantage over the Ecovacs here since they are AWD. The Ecovacs sometimes gets its front wheels caught and then the rear wheels dig in trying to get it unstuck. The MOVA and Worx don’t get stuck like that. The MOVA has omnidirectional wheels in the front so it can turn without really risking damaging your lawn. The Worx has really good tread on all 4 wheels and the front wheels actually turn. This allows for really tight turns and it doesn’t mess up your lawn.
App: All of them have solid apps with a decent amount of customization and adjustment.
Mapping: The mapping process is easy for all of them and the MOVA and Ecovacs use LiDAR while the Worx has a “Cloud RTK” and VSLAM. I found all of them to be equally accurate with no issues going outside of the mapped area.
Battery Life and Charging: The MOVA is able to cut the most on a charge. I think this is largely due to it’s wider cutting width. It’s about 5″ wider than the Ecovacs which is about 2″ wider than the Worx. With my roughly 1/5 acre of grass, the MOVA finished with about 60% battery left, Ecovacs about 50%, and Worx about 40%. All of them will recharge and resume if necessary and they all take about the same time to charge (just over an hour).
Other Notable Stuff: The Worx has an articulating chassis which helps it keep traction over varying terrain. The MOVA and Ecovacs allow you to view the camera feed while it cuts which is pretty cool. All of them allow you to manually control it in the app so you can mow it remotely if you want.
Pricing: They are roughly comparable and all have deals from time to time. The Ecovacs is typically $2700. The MOVA is typically $3000. And the Worx is anywhere from $2300 to $3700 depending on the lawn size option you get.
Final Verdict: Ultimately I like them all, but I think I prefer the Worx. It has advantages over the others (more precise turning, better traction, articulating chassis, interchangeable battery) while the others don’t really have any advantage over it.
Anyway I hope this is helpful. Check out the video for more info and footage of each and let me know if you have any questions.
